Directions

Squirrel Island is located off the coast of Boothbay Harbor, Maine.  

There is no bridge that connects Squirrel Island to the mainland.  The only way to get to the island for the wedding ceremony and reception is to board a walk-on ferry (The Novelty, pictured above) in Boothbay Harbor.  Please note that there are no cars or bikes allowed on the ferry. 

After you RSVP, you will receive a round trip ferry ticket in the mail for each person in your party.  Please note the time on the ticket, and arrive at the dock 15 minutes early. 

Click the links below for driving directions in Google Maps.  The destination is set for Balmy Days Cruises, the ferry port in Boothbay Harbor you'll use to get to the island. 

Accommodations on Squirrel Island itself are not available.  Instead, guests should seek lodging on the mainland in Boothbay Harbor at a location that's within walking distance of the Balmy Days Cruises ferry terminal.  The recommended hotels listed below are ideal.

There are discounted room rates available at the following hotels in Boothbay.  Please mention the Shaffer–Podpora wedding when you book to receive the group discount.

As an alternative to staying in a hotel, you may find it more convenient to rent a vacation home in Boothbay Harbor if you're traveling in a larger group.   Some helpful websites for vacation home rentals are listed below.
